is the largest health education provider in the state of maryland. we have 14-degree and certificate program . last year we graduated 600 students to enter the heal care work force. >> how long has this been going on? >> oh gosh, it has been around a long time. our individual program is graduating their fourth class this fall. it is extremely important roll in the health care team. mlt is short. we do all of the laboratory testing. a lot of people don't realize we exist. because we don't deal directly with patients. think of it this way when you go to the doctor because you are not feeling well what do they typically do? they take blood and urinalysis samples. they have to go somewhere for analysis. that's the job of the medical laboratory technologist. analyst samples and get results to the physicians. 70% of health care decisions made are based upon laboratory results provided. >> so there is a work force shortage? >> yes. average age in our field is in their mid 50s. as that group gets closer to retirement age we'll have a lot of jobs to film now is a great time to get in the field. >> wh
